KUMARASAMBHAVAM
About the play
Considered one of Kalidasa’s seminal poems, it epitomises the rasas of love, eroticism, beauty and romance. The endless prayers and penances performed by Parvathi to win Shiva’s love have set metaphors of love for centuries in the Indian culture. This version is inspired and adapted from Kalidasa’s Kumarasambhava by M. R. Kale, Kumara-Sambhava of Kalidasa edited by C. R. Devadhar and The Origin of the Young God Kalidasa by Hank Heitfetz.
