'Shivoham' is an independent dance production conceived and choreographed by Ms. Minal Merai. Performed in the Indian classical dance style of Bharathanatyam, 'Shivoham' seeks to explore the answer to the universal question ‘Who am I?' through Hindu philosophy while drawing from Hindu mythology. The production illustrates the process of spiritual discovery to attain salvation, exemplified through the five elements, or the Panchabhuta. It is hoped that the ideas conveyed through this production can elevate the mind and uplift the human spirit.

Voices with Dr. Janaki Rangarajan
4 July 2014 at Sri Krishna Gana Sabha, Chennai, India

Through the creative juxtaposition of the spoken word, song and dance, “Voices” celebrates the incredible human accomplishment of creating magic with words.  Just as water flows in a river, sometimes with serenity, sometimes with turbulence, words flow to create splendid poetry that can ease the mind, engage the senses, and fuel passions.  From the ancient to the modern, from the profound to the mundane, from the universal consciousness to the individual soul, poetry is a great river that traverses time and memory.  “Voices” brings unusual poetry to life just as a river brings life to those along its banks.  Using Tamil, Hindi, English and Persian, “Voices” sets out to create a multilayered visual and aural experience.  The poets celebrated are Pablo Neruda, Jaishankar Prasad, Pramila Venkateswaran, Nalluthiran, Amir Khusrau, and Rumi.
